Saturday and Sunday belong to the lake and the coast. Lake Conroe is about an hour north of downtown on I-45, with marinas and lakeside restaurants on the SH 105 side where the pontoon and party boat rentals launch. Galveston's beaches and the Kemah Boardwalk pull the south side of town. In our inquiry records, about 53% of Houston requests for events scheduled in the second quarter of 2024 were for 11 to 20 passengers, and the second quarter of 2026 came in at about 58%. Those quarters also carry prom and graduation, and each is a small sample, so read them as background. They line up with the all-year Houston share of about 49% for the same band.

Pontoon and charter rentals for the holiday weekend get taken weeks ahead and mostly run on fixed half-day or full-day slots. About 53% of Houston requests with a stated duration asked for three to four hours, which covers cookout-hopping inside the Beltway and not much else. About 34% asked for five to six and about 11% asked for seven to eight. Lake and beach days live in that last bracket, and the vehicle is reserved for the whole span whether it is parked or moving.

Pad the return by 30 to 45 minutes. Running past the booked time usually triggers overtime billing, and holiday traffic is the single most common reason it happens. Holiday weekends sit toward the top of the usual spread.

Of the Houston inquiries in our records with a historical quote, about 47% fell in the $1,000 to $1,499 band, about 30% in the $300 to $999 band and about 18% in the $1,500 to $1,999 band. Most of those were ordinary weekend evenings rather than long holiday days, so a full-day booking over a holiday will generally land in the upper part of the range.

Keep a case of water on the bus that lives separately from the beer cooler, because the one that gets raided is never the one you meant.
