Almost every trip east starts with a bridge.

From downtown Richmond you cross the Brazos on US-59 or US-90A before you reach Sugar Land. US-59 is the main line toward Uptown, downtown and the Medical Center. US-90A threads through old Richmond and Sugar Land and is handy for short local hops, slow for anything beyond them. The Grand Parkway runs north off US-59 toward Cinco Ranch and Katy, which is both the route to west Houston and a useful way around the inner freeways when they seize up.

The river is more than the bridges, though. After heavy rain upstream the Brazos can keep rising for days after the sky here has cleared, and low roads near it in Richmond and Rosenberg occasionally close. If your date follows a wet week, check county closures the day before and let the driver choose the route on the morning. Typical ranges from downtown with ordinary traffic:

On a weekday it is a working government building, full of jurors and attorneys and short of parking. On a Saturday it is a quiet square of old brick buildings that a wedding party can walk in ten minutes. The vehicle drops everyone at one corner, parks, and picks them up at another twenty minutes later, which is far less painful than trying to keep a limousine in one spot downtown.

The streets here are a grid, and a stretch limousine is much happier in a grid than in a curving subdivision. Across all the markets in our records, about 22% of wedding inquiries with a recorded vehicle mentioned a limousine, and for a bride with six or seven attendants the 10 passenger white Lincoln stretch limo is the obvious version of that. Ask about photography on the grounds while you are planning the stop, since county property tends to have its own rules.

The hotel cluster sits in Sugar Land along US-59, 15 to 30 minutes from most Richmond venues, which turns the guest shuttle from a nice extra into part of the actual plan. Wedding parties cluster in size too: in our records about 42% of wedding inquiries with a group size were for 11 to 20 guests, with another 26% in the 21 to 30 band. Where the hours sneak up on people is the gap. One run out to the ceremony and one back at the end of the night is really two trips with a long wait in between, and whether the vehicle holds or leaves and returns changes what you are quoted. Most of the new housing around Richmond sits on the edges, in master-planned communities such as Harvest Green, which has a working farm at its centre, and Veranda near US-59. New sections open every year and the mapping apps run months behind them. Send a dropped pin for the exact house, and mention any construction detour you have been driving around all week.

The newer sections bring the usual companions: narrow streets, contractor trucks parked on both sides on weekdays, and cul-de-sacs measured for a minivan. If the house is on a tight street, load at the main boulevard or the amenity center instead, and have a look at what the HOA says before you plan on a vehicle standing outside a home.

Not every group here is pointed at Houston.

George Ranch Historical Park, south of town, is a living-history site that schools and families go to on purpose, and the county fairgrounds are next door in Rosenberg. A class trip on a 56 passenger coach bus takes a full grade level with underfloor storage for the lunch boxes, which beats a teacher holding forty sandwiches. As for whether a Richmond pickup is a nuisance: it is routine. Across the Houston area, about 72% of inquiries with a recorded city were associated with Houston itself, which means everything else came from the surrounding communities. The longer run out to reach a Richmond address is built into how the quote is put together, so it is not something you need to negotiate separately.
