Because of what happens in the pictures.

A white car throws light back onto whoever is standing beside it, and it separates cleanly from dark suits, tuxedos, and jewel-tone gowns. A black limo photographed in the evening can sink into the background and take half the frame with it. For a quinceañera in a ball gown, or a bride-to-be in white with her friends in matching colors, that contrast is the entire reason the car is there.
